The holiday farmhouse "La Grotta di Montecchino" is situated on a hilltop some 5 kilometers from the medieval city of Siena, with a panoramic view over the rolling Tuscan countryside. It is immersed in the classic Sienese landscape with all its distinctive characteristics: the vines, the olive groves and the cypresses, and the patchwork of cultivated fields of corn and brilliant sunflowers that carpet the clay slopes, tamed and tended by centuries of peasant wisdom. The sweeping vista includes the towers of Siena on one side, and, on another, the deep shady woods which contain a variety of oak trees, and which hide the ancient remains of medieval fortifications. In the distance, cows graze serenely in green pastures. Guests will have the opportunity of country walks along paths redolent of aromatic herbs - or by the river-bank where picnics can be enjoyed. A twenty-minute drive will get you to the natural, open-air thermal baths at Petriolo, whose sulphurous waters have been renowned since the Middle Ages for their curative properties. The farm offers four independent apartments composed of: large living-room with kitchen area, bedroom(s) - 1 or 2, bathroom with shower, heating and TV. For leisure activities, there is a swimming-pool and a mini-football pitch. Clients are asked to make a downpayment of 50% (see the coordinate of bank in cancellation policies)when booking.We are plesed to receive payment by postal-order, bank-draft, or in cash. Other recreational possibilities in the vicinity include horse-riding (2km away) and tennis-courts (300 m). There is a bus for city-centre every 30 minutes.<br>
