Converted from an ancient monastry, the hotel is in a private courtyard 2 minutes from Pau Castle where Henry IV was born and lived. The name Roncevaux recalls the famous battle between the invading Sarrasins and Charlemagne who fought side by side with Count Roland. 39 rooms that combine old world charm with all modern day comforts. Each room is "en suite" and equipped with Cable TV, a direct line telephone and computer connection. Several rooms have their own mini-bar and 3 of our rooms offer a splendid four-poster bed. The capital of Bearn, Pau is a magnificent town steeped in history, yet modern in its outlook offering a host of sporting and cultural opportunities. Served by three 18 hole golf courses, a motor racing track, and its very own horse racing course and equestrian club, Pau also boasts a large sports stadium, several swimming pools, squash and tennis courts, theatres and cinemas. Bars, bistrots, top gastronomic restaurants, and Pau's Casino and the "Palais de Congres" conference centre can all be found within a 5 minutes walk of the hotel.
