Description:
The Tenuta di Corbara, no more than a 15 minute drive from Orvieto, is located in Umbria, the green heart of Italy. It has a long and fascinating history and the ruins of the river port of Pagliano nearby bear witness to the presence of the Romans where the Paglia river flows into the Tiber. The extensive archaeological excavations, recently renewed, were begun in the late 19th century. The 1,100 hectares of the estate are partially included in the Tiber River Reserve. In the Middle Ages, what is now known as Castello di Corbara was a feudal estate of the counts of Montemarte. Their territory remained intact over the centuries and has been turned into a modern farm. Traditional farming methods have given way to organic farming which frowns upon the use of pesticides. By creating a farm holiday center which also produces excellent wine and a particularly fine extra virgin olive oil, the concepts of farming and tourism have been integrated, offering guests a variety of sports and services in a farm setting. The large stone farmhouses, set in the midst of an unspoiled ambience ideally suited for walks in the woods, biking, horse back riding or just plain relaxation, have been restored and are equipped with all amenities. No more than an hour's drive from Rome, with its immense store of history and art, the Tenuta di Corbara is also an ideal starting point for excursions to the surrounding historical towns of Todi, Assisi, Gubbio and Spoleto. To reach the estate from Rome, go north on A1 and take the Orvieto exit. OGLIETO FARM This large farmhouse has a sweeping view of the Cliff of Orvieto, the Cimini Mountains and Mount Cetona. Softly rolling hills with vineyards, olive groves and fields of wheat move into the distance as far as the eye can see. The origins of the Oglieto farm also go far back and it was already mentioned in the town land register of Orvieto in 1292 under its old name of Villa Olgleti. DESCRIPTION The farmhouse consists of two apartments (about on 2 floors 110 sq.m / 1155 sq. ft, each). Every apartment has an independent entrance and is furnished in the Umbrian country style, with the addition of a few antiques. Every apartment has two large bedrooms, two baths, one large living room with fireplace, kitchen and dining area. Every one has television and extra beds can be added. Beach-chairs and umbrellas as well as garden tables are available for guests in summer. ORZALUME FARM This farmhouse, surrounded by green woods, olive groves and vineyards, has a marvelous view of the cliff of Orvieto. It is the quietest and most secluded of the farmhouses. The solidity and majesty of this rural structure bear witness to its history going back to Roman times. Many of the farmsteads on the Estate were originally Roman "villae rusticae", well organized and furnishing Rome with wheat, oil and wine. DESCRIPTIONThe Farmstead has a large two-story farmhouse and an annex, with three apartments. Guests are welcome to use the wood-burning oven outside the annex. The apartments are about 110 sq. m / 1155 sq. ft each, have two/three bedrooms, two baths, living-dining room, kitchen and fireplace. Every apartment has an independent entrance and is furnished in the traditional Umbrian country style, with a few antiques. Each apartment is equipped with television and extra beds can be added. Beach-chairs and umbrellas as well as garden tables are available for guests in summer.
