Description:
Newbury is the site of many Civil War Battles and is now better known for its race course and towpath walks along the Kennet and Avon Canal. Set in race course country, this 17th century former Coaching Inn, overlooked by Donnington Castle, stands within the beautiful countryside of Royal Berkshire, providing an ideal base for tourists wishing to visit the many attractions of this region. The M4 motorway (junction 13) is only two miles away, giving easy access to London and Bath, both of which are only an hour's drive. The A34, which has recently been improved, also offers a quick connection to Southampton and Oxford. RESTAURANT AND BAR We offer a choice of menus, including an interesting a'la carte, which is complemented by a selection of wines from our cellars. A vegetarian dish is always available and our chef will be happy to discuss any aspect regarding the various dishes. The Hare and Hounds Hotel preserves the old tradition that the guest always comes first. We serve a variety of traditional ales and beers. BEDROOMS All rooms are en suite with colour television, direct-dial telephone, trouser press, radio/alarm facilities. A Fax and in house laundry service is also available.
