Description:
The Las Nieves is a two star hotel which has recently been completely restored. It was, in fact, originally two buildings, and so boasts two fine facades. The hotel has also been completely refurbished throughout. Although the hotel has been restored, it still preserves the typical elements from houses of the mid-19th century, such as its Andalusian patios. The establishment thus fulfils the highest requirements of the culturally minded tourist. In some of our rooms you can enjoy the very best of creature comforts such as steam and hydromassage showers. All rooms are fully air conditioned and have T.V., etc. As part of our personal service we try, whenever possible, to offer our guests the room of their choice, given that each room is different in decor and shape. Every room, however, is spacious and newly furnished, with a balcony giving out onto the street. We offer both a restaurant and cafeteria service, located on the ground floor of the building in Sierpe Baja St., where typical Andalusian cuisine can be enjoyed, if one wishes. Native dishes can, in fact, be divided into two categories, Andalusian cuisine (cocina andaluza) and €Arabic€ Andalusian cuisine (cocina andalusi). Our Andalusian cuisine (cocina andaluza) originates from a village in the province of Granada called Montefrio. It was passed on from the beginning of the 19th century by the women in Paquitina€s family at the Hotel Cafe´ Español, the art was eventually acquired by doña Paquitina herself. Typical dishes include paella, Sacromonte omelette, gazpacho, truffled turkey, cured ham with broad beans, patridge croquettes, pheasant in saffron sauce, and many other slowly-cooked stews and soups. Fresh fish and vegetable are also bought by D. Mariano himself on a daily basis from the local market. The €Arabic€ Andalusian cuisine originates from Moroccan recipes, supposedly from the Arabs who had to emigrate to Morocco when Granada was taken by the Catholic Kings in 1492. Some of these dishes are, for example, pastela andalusi, cous-cous, andalusi chicken or lamb ( in sweet and sour sauces with a raisin, piñon and almond base,etc.). Furthermore, we also have an international menu offering a wide variety of set meals and a nutritive childrens menu at really competative prices (1,525 ptas for a set meal, and 750 ptas for the childrens menu). Our cafeteria offers American or Continental breakfast and/or a light lunch/evening meal based on our tasty sandwiches, home-made dishes and mixed grills or, if you prefer, you can always try our wide selection of tapas and enjoy a taste of the traditional cuisine mentioned previously.
